Forest Park ranks among top “Great Places in America”
Earlier today, the American Planning Association (APA) announced the top 30 “Great Places in America” for 2013, and Forest Park was named one of the Top 10 Best Public Spaces in the country.
Other top honors went to such popular attractions as Grand Central Terminal in NYC and San Francisco’s Chinatown, as well as less widely-known places such as Central Street in Evanston IL, and Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.
2013 has been a great year for Forest Park, having also been named one of the Top 10 Most Beautiful City Parks in the world! (Yahoo!)
Located in the heart of St. Louis, Forest Park is maintained by Forest Park Forever, which recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Forest Park is perhaps best known as the host of the 1904 Olympics and St. Louis World’s Fair. The park is currently home to several world-class attractions such as:
- St. Louis Zoo
- St. Louis Art Museum
- St. Louis History Museum
- The MUNY theater
- The historic World’s Fair Pavilion
- The Boathouse restaurant
- St. Louis Science Center
- The Jewel Box
….just to name a few. Not to mention, it also hosts a plethora of annual events such as LouFest and the Great Forest Park Balloon Race.
Congratulations to Forest Park and the City of St. Louis on such an incredible achievement!
